Another free pass for religion

Religion has been given a free pass again. If I wilfully failed to provide my babies the necessities of life, be it water or medical attention, I'd be lynched by a mob. But if I'm a Jehovah's Witness, I'm the one who deserves an apology. That's right. Keeping my children alive is infringing on my rights (the babies don't have rights, right?)

If I wanted to end the pain and suffering of my wife, who had been semi-comatose for quite awhile, I'd need body guards after I pulled the plug. Religious zealots and other opportunistic nuts would ensure that there'd be few other stories on the evening news. Religious leaders would release statements and the topic would be discussed in a session of parliament.

Where those groups of organized insanity are now, I have no idea. Where's the "right-to-life" groups with their signs? I guess some people simply feel that one's rights begin at conception and end at birth.
