Ever Heard of Cancer?

CTV.ca | W-FIVE: Dr. Hope

You or someone you love has, or will have, cancer.

Because of this harsh truth, you really need to check out this W5 episode. It demonstrates what's terribly wrong with the health system we usually view as being superior to that of other countries. But there's little the government will do to protect those among us who are most vulnerable from crooks who get very rich off of your family member's tumor. As you already know, if you're a faith healer you're worse than a piece of shit, but you have plenty of company.

Find someone you care about and watch the video segments together.

Bye Kurt, and thanks for the smiles.

Kurt Vonnegut, Humanist, 1922-2007

The humanist community lost one of its most renowned and colorful champions with the death of Kurt Vonnegut last Wednesday.

Here's his acceptance speech when he won the Humanist of the Year Award back in the early '90's:
Why My Dog is Not a Humanist

Right Wing Watch: Ousted Alabama Judge Sees Work as Continuation of Nuremburg Trials

... it's got Jesus spinning in his grave.

"Ironically, all the other nations which joined to prosecute the Nazi regime based on the law of nations given by God now reject the sovereignty of that God over law and government, the defunct Soviet Union being the first and most obvious example."

It's not irony. It's called Democracy, stupid. You know, that thing you like when it doesn't run counter to your mythology which is, ironically, centered around an evil dictator.

A Clash of Self-Inflicted Stupidity

Try to keep your turds from banging into each other.

Ok, I know I don't have to mention that if you're an evangelical Christian, you're head's at least half-way up your ass, or that of someone else, but usually the spiritually retarded self-made morons among us are consistent in how they wallow, and invite us to wallow, in their bullshit.

Sometimes their beliefs not only collide with reality, but with their own idiocy. Look at the link below. It's an attempt to discredit Al Gore and global warming. These guys refer to it as a "hoax". And why is it a "hoax". Because Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) - gee, this will be good - cited 600,000-year-old scientific evidence that Gore's carbon dioxide claims are false. Evidence from 600,000 years ago???? Wait a minute! These are the idiots who claim that the planet is only 6,000 years old! How the hell can you cite "evidence" that's 594,000 years older that the planet?

I think it's safe to say that most evangelicals won't notice the gaff, or will at least conveniently overlook it.

A Wishful-thinking Life

God Debate: Sam Harris vs. Rick Warren - Newsweek Beliefs - MSNBC.com

Here is an interesting debate between two well-known men who are on opposite sides of the God question. If this is typical Warren, then I'm glad I never wasted my time (or money) reading his book. Forget about his straw-men arguments, his appeal-to-popularity plea, and other numerous logical fallacies. He actually ended the discussion with Pascal's Wager!
